Dear Parents,
We hope you all had a great summer even though the weather didn’t quite live up to the expectations. We are already back into the swing of a new year and would like to welcome Emily, Theo, Libby, Alexis and Amber to Pre-school, we have 20 children on our books so the term promises to be a fun and busy one.
We came back to find some great pumpkins had grown over the summer so these will be used in cooking as soon as they are ready, we also had beans, potatoes and beetroot from the plot last term. Please do come and see how the pumpkins are doing.
This term we are looking at Autumn and The Weather so we would really appreciate if each child can bring wellies and a coat so that even if it rains we can go splashing outside. We are going to be using natural resources to make lovely autumnal pictures and explore their textures and shape.
We will be having a weekly colour table and shape hunts so the children can learn to recognise these. Again this term we will be using our ‘Letters and Sounds’ activities to help promote good listening skills, introducing rhyme and rhythm and alliteration.
Since September is Oral Health Month, we have enrolled with Oral B to promote healthy foods and good practise for looking after children’s teeth. We would like to introduce the children to brushing their teeth after lunch; we will provide named brushes and suitable toothpaste. There is a slip at the back for you to fill in giving permission if your child stays for lunch. We have some activities and a great Crocodile puppet to support this.
Also we are very lucky to have been given a donation from the Rotary Club to support music, so we have ‘Music Monsters’ coming 9 times during the year to promote a fun and interactive introduction to music starting on Monday 14th September 2009.
Lastly, we do have some story sacks which contain books and puzzles linked by a theme. If you would like to borrow these then please fill in the slip and return it to us, we will send them home for you to share with your child and swap it on its return.
If you have any particular skills that you would like to share with us then please tell a member of staff, we always enjoy parents / grandparents coming in to share their knowledge.
I am very lucky to be going to Kenya from Friday 18th September and returning on Monday 28th. Kylie will be Supervisor during this time and Clare Hanwell will be our Deputy.
